1. Who is disclosing

This statement is made by Sankofa Trade Technologies Ltd., a technology company incorporated in the Republic of Ghana with its registered office in Accra. It describes the regulatory basis on which our services are provided and is intended to give traders, partners and the public an accurate picture of our status.

2. Ghana — Bank of Ghana status

What we are
A financial-technology provider building working-capital and settlement infrastructure for AfCFTA trade.
What we are not
We are not a licensed bank, specialised deposit-taking institution or e-money issuer in our own name, and we do not take deposits from the public.
How financing is provided
Regulated lending and payment services are delivered together with Bank of Ghana–licensed institutions that originate and hold the facilities; Sankofa Trade provides the technology, origination, scoring and servicing layer.
Direct authorisation
We are pursuing direct authorisation appropriate to our activities with the Bank of Ghana. This page is updated as that status changes. [legal review — confirm exact licence category and status before publication]

3. Settlement — PAPSS participation

Cross-border settlement uses the Pan-African Payment & Settlement System (PAPSS), which enables local-currency, near-instant settlement between participating African markets. We access PAPSS through licensed participant institutions. This lets traders settle across corridors in local currency without correspondent-bank spreads.

4. Data protection registration

Sankofa Trade is registered as a data controller with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data.

5. Expansion corridors — licensing posture

Our anchor market is Ghana. We are expanding along established trade corridors to Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire. In each market we will operate only on a compliant basis — either under our own authorisation or with a locally licensed partner — before offering regulated services there.

6. What our disclosures do not do

  • This statement is not an offer of, or solicitation for, any regulated product outside the markets where we are authorised to provide it;
  • It does not constitute financial, legal or tax advice; and
  • Facility availability, pricing and features may differ by market and are always confirmed in your facility schedule.

7. Deposit protection and risk

8. Complaints and the regulator

If we cannot resolve a complaint, you may escalate to the Bank of Ghana (or, in a corridor market, the relevant regulator). Our Complaints & Dispute-Resolution page sets out the steps, timelines and escalation routes.

9. Keeping this current

Regulatory status changes over time. We update this page when our authorisations or partner arrangements change, with a new “Last updated” date. If anything here appears inconsistent with a regulator’s public register, the register prevails and we ask you to tell us at compliance@sankofatrade.africa.
